Since 2013, Jenaro has led Street Art Chilango, a Mexico City–based project that has become the leading ambassador of street art in Mexico, both nationally and internationally. The idea began on March 6, 2013, when Jenaro de Rosenzweig decided to open a Facebook fanpage to start uploading photos of urban art from the streets of Mexico City. After realizing that it was a subject with little documentation at the time, a website was created with an integrated API to geolocate the works that Instagram users uploaded to their accounts. In this way, through the collective use of the hashtag #streetartchilango, it became possible to map the entire universe of urban art in the city. Consequently, the project gained organic visibility through newspapers, radio, and national and international television, with articles and interviews featured in outlets such as The New York Times, BBC, Reforma, El Universal, FOX News, AP, Canal Once, Aristegui Noticias, among others. After more than 110,000 instances of the hashtag #streetartchilango being used on social media, the project can be considered a success. Mexico City’s urban art was collectively discovered—and continues to be—through the participation of all the artists who create it and all the social media users who share it using #streetartchilango.
