Sustainability

OUR COMMITMENTS
MEXICO's FIRST HOTEL CERTIFIED AS A B-CORPORATION
Since opening in 2012, Hotel El Ganzo has evolved with a clear intention: to create a model of hospitality that inspires positive impact. We see sustainability as a living system — one that connects our environment, our people, and our creative spirit.

In 2022, El Ganzo became the first hotel in Mexico to earn B Corp certification, joining a global community of companies that measure success not just by profit, but by purpose. This recognition reflects years of effort in reducing inequality, lowering our environmental footprint, and strengthening the community of La Playa and San José del Cabo.
SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS
ENERGY, WATER, WASTE, CARBON FOOTPRINT, OCEAN CONSERVATION AND EDUCATION
Through these pillars, we continually adapt and improve our practices — from eliminating single-use plastics to growing our own herbs, composting food waste, and collaborating with local partners on conservation projects.
B Corp
Becoming a Certified B Corporation means meeting the highest standards of social and environmental accountability, transparency, and long-term sustainability.

This certification confirms our dedication to continuous improvement — reducing emissions, creating dignified jobs, supporting local businesses, and ensuring that our growth benefits everyone connected to our ecosystem.

La Playa Centro Comunitario
Founded in 2015 on land next to the hotel, La Playa Centro Comunitario is a non-profit organization that serves over 1,500 residents from La Playa, Rincón de La Playa, San Vicente, Las Ánimas, and La Choya.
The center offers art workshops, English and computer classes, nutrition programs, and a community kitchen. It is a safe and creative space where children and adults alike can learn, share, and connect.

Through the support of El Ganzo’s guests and partners, the center continues to expand its programs, creating real opportunities for personal and social development. It represents the heart of our commitment to equality, education, and community empowerment.
Azul Pacifico
Azul Pacífico was created to spark dialogue and action around ocean conservation. It gathers voices from diverse sectors — environmental organizations, government, academia, and the creative community — to co-design practical, long-term solutions.

Through talks, workshops, and community events, Azul Pacífico promotes awareness of marine ecosystems and invites collective responsibility for their care. Hosted annually at El Ganzo, the forum has become a catalyst for collaboration in Baja California Sur and beyond, reaffirming our belief that protecting the ocean is essential to protecting life itself.

Kind Traveler
El Ganzo partners with Kind Traveler, the first socially conscious hotel booking platform that empowers travelers to make a positive impact with every stay.

For each night booked through the Every Stay Gives Back program, $1 USD goes directly to La Playa Centro Comunitario, funding its educational and nutritional programs.

This partnership bridges travel and transformation — allowing guests to contribute meaningfully to the community they visit. It’s a small act with a tangible effect, reinforcing our shared mission to make travel a force for good.
Desplastificate
Through Desplastifícate, we’re replacing single-use plastics with eco-friendly alternatives, promoting refill systems, and encouraging mindful consumption among guests and staff.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce inorganic waste and protect the natural beauty of Los Cabos.

Recycling Program
Our Recycling Program strengthens the responsible management of inorganic waste at El Ganzo and its community. Every day, our team separates materials for recycling, ensuring that what can be reused never ends up in landfills.

On the first Tuesday of every month, we open a community recycling station in the hotel’s parking lot, operated jointly with La Playa Centro Comunitario. Local residents are invited to bring their recyclable materials, helping to build an accessible and participatory recycling culture.

We work daily to minimize our impact — through composting, energy efficiency, solar heating, water conservation, and carbon-neutral programs. We source lComunitario and programs like GanzoAyudale suppliers, and grow part of our own produce.

These commitments define who we are. They remind us that every action, no matter how small, contributes to a greater balance between people, planet, and creativity.
