Born in 1990 in Mexico City, Jimena Montemayor de la Bárcena is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer based in Milan. She studied for her bachelor's degree at the University of Miami (2012) and recently obtained a master's degree from the Politecnico di Milano (2024). Her practice focuses on graphic exploration, where she manipulates lines, patterns, and visual structures to generate compositions that oscillate between the two-dimensional plane and three-dimensional objects, combining digital and analog media. She has participated in residencies such as Casa Cascabel in Mérida (2022), Art on the Mile and Bakehouse Art Complex in Miami (2020), Casa Lü in Mexico City (2018), and Hotel El Ganzo in Los Cabos (2016). Among his most notable projects are Wanderlust at The W South Beach during Art Basel Miami (2024), collaborations with Nike Live Stores Mexico (2022), the graphic installation Chroma at Ace Hotel Downtown LA (2019), and exhibitions at venues such as Momoroom, Ladrón Galería, Feria Maroma, and the San Pablo Cultural Center in Oaxaca. Montemayor's work combines graphic art, design, and architecture to explore the relationship between structure, color, and repetition. His compositions explore the tension between order and variation, generating visual and spatial experiences that invite the viewer to inhabit patterns and transparencies in constant transformation.
