Our Residency Program is the beating heart of El Ganzo Headspace initiative. It embodies our belief in unrestricted creation:No rules. No assigned walls. No predetermined outcomes.
Since El Ganzo opened its doors in 2012, artists have been part of the life of the hotel. Founder Pablo Sánchez Navarro imagined Ganzo not simply as a place to stay, but as a cultural meeting point: a living, breathing space where art, music, ideas, and people could constantly intersect.
More than 120 artists from Mexico and around the world have since passed through the program, each bringing a different practice, perspective, and way of leaving their mark.
The original vision was rooted in exchange. Artists were invited to stay at the hotel and give back through their practice: performing, painting a mural, intervening a room, creating an installation, sharing a workshop, or simply leaving behind a trace of their time in Baja.
From internationally recognized artists to emerging local voices, El Ganzo has always approached creativity without hierarchy. What matters here is not status, but energy, intention, and the act of creating itself.
Over the years, the Residency Program has become one of the pillars of El Ganzo’s identity. Each residency is an invitation to slow down, observe, experiment, and immerse oneself in the rhythms, landscapes, communities, and contrasts of Baja California Sur.
Residents are encouraged to engage with the territory around them, to connect with local culture, collaborate across disciplines, and allow their surroundings to become part of the creative process.
The works created here do not disappear when a residency ends. They become part of Ganzo.
Murals, photographs, sculptures, installations, textiles, performances, sound pieces, and interventions live throughout the hotel, transforming rooms, hallways, rooftops, and unexpected corners into an ever-changing collection shaped by more than a decade of creative exchange.
The program welcomes national and international artists whose practices contribute meaningfully to the contemporary cultural landscape, creating space for experimentation, reflection, dialogue, and human connection.
Through these encounters, El Ganzo continues to evolve as an ecosystem where hospitality and artistic practice coexist naturally and where one artist’s presence becomes part of the story the next one encounters.
At its core, the Residency Program remains an act of love: a belief that art has the power to inspire personal and collective transformation, and that creativity flourishes most when people are given the time, space, freedom, and care to follow where an idea takes them.
