Antonio Tercero (b. 1986) is a visual artist from San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur. He holds a degree in Fine Arts from the State School of Fine Arts in San Luis Potosí and has furthered his education through various national and international institutions, participating in courses focused on visual and plastic arts. His recent painting work blends a personal visual aesthetic with memories and experiences rooted in his immediate surroundings. He explores recurring visual patterns that engage in a dialogue between architectural structures and the local landscape of southern Baja California. Tercero has received several recognitions, including selection for the UNAM Visual Arts Biennial (2016), the 34th National Young Art Encounter, and an Honorable Mention at both the First International Painting Biennial of Mexico (2017) and the 8th Carlos Olaechea Visual Arts Biennial in Baja California Sur (2017). He currently lives and works independently in San José del Cabo, where he is dedicated to artistic production and teaching. He is a founding member of *Arte en Neru*, a collective created by local artists to produce work, organize exhibitions, and offer workshops open to the general public.
Antonio developed new series of paintings that explore the natural and architectural landscapes of a territory shaped by the complex coexistence of locals and outsiders. The region’s economic development—largely driven by tourism—has left a profound mark on the environment, the socio-cultural evolution of Los Cabos, and the emotional terrain of those who live here. Through an intensely personal and emotional approach, Antonio reimagines “vision” not only as sight, but as a space where fantasy, the phantasmagoric, and the blurred boundaries between past and present converge. His work invites us to reflect on the uncertainty of the landscape—a kind of zero hour. These new paintings were exhibited at the hotel in a show curated by Lorena Peña Brito, Chief Curator at Museo Cabañas in Guadalajara. His painting "La Choya", showcased at the exhibition, remains as part of the hotel's collection.
