Shelby and Sandy are a brother art collective from Los Angeles. Through bright colors and bold lines, the duo pride themselves on creating visceral nostalgia. Shelby and Sandy are pioneering a new style of art called, ‘nice.’ Since the Murphy brothers began working together nearly 10 years ago, they have developed a large following and have been commissioned to paint for celebrities such as Zac Efron, Nick Cannon, and Sean Kingston . They have also had their art exhibited in cities across the world, from Paris to Dubai. They’ve been asked by collectors to paint athletes like LeBron James and Michael Jordan, and also to paint for teams, athletic venues, and a hospital. The piece in the Spa “Tom & Jerry fishing” uses the characters of this cartoon, as always the cat hunting the mouse, but this time with a fishing rod, making reference to the fisher men of La Playita. Usan colores vivos, líneas definidas y limpias, todo tiene que quedar nice (bonito) tal como las caricaturas. Lo que ellos buscan con sus piezas es generar una reacción positiva, alegre, y para muchos, nostalgia de su infancia. La pieza del Spa “Tom y Jerry fishing” usa a los personajes de esta caricatura, como siempre el gato persiguiendo al ratón, pero esta vez con una caña de pescar, como referencia a los pescadores de La Playita.
