MEET OMAR RODRIGUEZ-GRAHAM

Meet Omar Rodriguez-Graham, an artist who weaves the fabric of memory into every stroke of his brush. Graduating with a BA from Drew University and an MFA from Tyler School of Art, Rodriguez-Graham has honed his craft across continents and cultures. His journey through prestigious residencies like The Skowhegan School and The Banff Centre, and an upcoming stay at Casa Wabi, enriches his perspective.Rodriguez-Graham’s work is a vibrant dialogue between the abstract and the known, where each painting serves as a canvas for memory and invention. His pieces are not just seen; they are experienced, blurring the lines between form and thought, reality and abstraction. His works grace collections from The JUMEX Collection in Mexico to the Jorge Pérez Collection in the USA, each piece a testament to his ability to capture the essence of recollection and innovation.Recently, he has ventured into a bold exploration of painterly sculptures that redefine reality on canvas, challenging viewers to see beyond the ordinary. Rodriguez-Graham doesn’t just paint; he invites us on a journey to discover the profound connections between our memories and the abstract landscapes they inhabit.

ART RESIDENCY
2024

Located on the rooftop of the Hotel El Ganzo, the mural *The Shudder of the Mountains*, measuring approximately 65 square meters, dominates the San José del Cabo skyline with spectacular views of the ocean. Its location is no accident: a historic workshop (Taller Perdomo and MVM Studios, responsible for works by muralists of the stature of Rivera, O’Gorman, Siqueiros, and Orozco) provides the technical backing for this contemporary piece, lending a heritage dimension to the installation. The fact that this work is incorporated into the setting of a hotel not only enhances its accessibility, transforming the space into an open-air museum, but also strengthens the cultural mission of the hotel, establishing Hotel El Ganzo as a true creative oasis where architecture, art, and visitors converge in constant dialogue.
