Edgar Flores, better known as Saner, is one of Mexico's most distinctive contemporary artists, celebrated for a visual language that bridges ancestral symbolism with contemporary life. Originally emerging from the graffiti scene before studying graphic design, Saner has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning muralism, painting, illustration, and public art.
His unmistakable figures—often portrayed wearing ceremonial animal masks inspired by jaguars, coyotes, birds, and other creatures deeply rooted in Mesoamerican cosmology—move between mythology and everyday reality. Through these characters, Saner explores themes of identity, ritual, spirituality, and cultural memory, creating narratives where Mexico's ancestral traditions continue to evolve within the present.

Saner's first residency at Hotel El Ganzo gave rise to one of the property's most recognizable artworks. Created on the Rooftop behind what is now the DJ booth, the large-scale mural has become an enduring backdrop for concerts, wellness gatherings, and countless moments shared above the Sea of Cortez.
The composition embodies the spirit of El Ganzo through a central shamanic figure surrounded by symbols inspired by the four cardinal directions, weaving together elements of nature, ritual, and transformation. More than a mural, the work has become a visual landmark within the hotel—a place where music, art, and community continue to gather beneath its watchful presence.
Over the years, the mural has evolved into part of El Ganzo's identity, reminding visitors that creativity here is woven into the architecture itself.
When Saner returned to Hotel El Ganzo in 2019, his artistic universe expanded across the property through a new series of murals that deepened the dialogue between the hotel, its landscape, and its mythology.
Intervening walls throughout the Rooftop and Beach Club, Saner introduced masked animal figures that appear to move through the architecture like spiritual guardians, inhabiting the spaces between the physical and the symbolic. Drawing from Mesoamerican traditions, these characters create a visual journey where humans, animals, and ancestral spirits coexist, inviting visitors to experience the hotel through a different lens.
Together, his two residencies established a visual narrative that continues to define El Ganzo today—one where art is not confined to galleries, but becomes part of the experience of moving through the space itself.
