Diana García is a Mexican artist, actress, and producer whose creative practice is rooted in a simple but powerful philosophy: Be What You Dream. For García, transformation begins with the individual—with the courage to become more fully ourselves and, in doing so, contribute to a more positive collective world.This idea takes shape in Los Guardianes (The Guardians), her ongoing series of animal figures that merge different species into imagined beings. Each Guardian brings together distinct qualities, talents, and energies, becoming a reflection of our own potential and an invitation to let go of the fear of simply being who we are.Her Guardians have appeared in public spaces across Mexico, the United States, Europe, and Asia, turning streets and shared environments into places for encounters with these larger-than-life creatures. Inspired in part by the Hopi prophecy of the Rainbow Warriors, García's work seeks to awaken a sense of love, connection, and responsibility among all living beings.Through installations and collaborations, she continues to explore how art can become a catalyst for personal transformation and collective consciousness—reminding us that sometimes the first step toward changing the world is imagining who we might become within it.
During her residency at El Ganzo, Diana García created Aguileón, a new Guardian inspired by the eagles that can often be spotted soaring around the hotel and its surrounding landscape.Bringing together the strength and courage associated with different animals, Aguileón became both a creature and a kind of protector—an imagined being born from the energies García sees in the natural world around us. For the artist, the eagles already seemed to have a role at El Ganzo: they were there, watching over the place. Her Guardian simply joined them.As with García's wider Los Guardianes series, Aguileón is more than an animal hybrid. It represents the possibility of combining our own strengths and facing the changes we need to make, both within ourselves and in the world around us.Created in dialogue with the landscape, Aguileón carries that message without needing to spell it out. It stands as a reminder that courage can take many forms—and that sometimes we need a little imagination, and perhaps a guardian or two, to help us find it.
Many of the artworks, murals, and interventions that have shaped the hotel over the years were never intended to exist forever. As artists arrive, spaces evolve, and new conversations emerge, certain works transform, disappear, or make room for new interventions.This constant evolution is central to El Ganzo’s identity. The hotel experienced today is not the same one that existed six months ago, nor the one that will exist six months from now. Through change, the space remains alive, continuously shaped by the artists, musicians, and communities that pass through it.The works featured in this archive are no longer physically on view, but they remain an essential part of El Ganzo’s artistic legacy and ongoing cultural history.
